FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We are encountered with many questions every day. Here is a list of the ones asked most commonly. We realize that you must have many other questions that are not answered below, and we encourage you to contact us to get those answers.
WHAT DOES GALAXY COST?
There are no “up-front” license fees with Galaxy. You simply pay a monthly fee for the modules you choose, which ranges from $100 to $300 per module per month per facility. For single facilities and small chains (up to 3 facilities), the MDS module is free! (See next question) Each module includes one password per facility. Additional passwords are available for $37.50 per month. There is a charge for training, which is delivered as time-efficiently and cost-effectively as possible, depending on your needs and level of sophistication.
WHY DOES GALAXY MAKE THE MDS MODULE (ALONG WITH ADT) AVAILABLE TO SINGLE FACILITIES AND SMALL CHAINS FREE?

The free MDS is supported by advertising, which is kept to a small part of the screen and never pops-up over or interferes with your working software, nor is there any annoying audio or flashy, distracting video. Further, our advertisers (mostly suppliers of goods and services to nursing homes) regularly promote special offers that are only available to Galaxy clients.

The free MDS includes one free password per facility (additional passwords are available) and even includes free basic conversion of your data and free basic training. You may choose to purchase additional training if you intend to use some of the more sophisticated features of MDS and ADT. See Products.

WHAT ADVANTAGES DOES GALAXY OFFER FOR LARGER CHAINS?

Galaxy is designed for large enterprises that keep all facility data in one database (though user passwords can be restricted to one facility or a specific set of facilities). This allows for the easiest and most efficient setup and maintenance of certain master tables, but still allows restricting selected records to specific facilities. Galaxy uses the powerful and robust OracleTM database engine, and uniquely combines web hosting and true client server performance to handle the heavy requirements of large chains, including virtually instantaneous consolidation of multiple facility data.

WHAT MAKES GALAXY SO MUCH FASTER?

As mentioned above, Galaxy uses Oracle™, which is far more robust than database engines used by most other companies, and we are the only company providing true client server performance. Most other web-hosted systems actually send a new HTML page every time new data is requested; Galaxy created a technology that allows for user (client) workstation to make dynamic SQL requests to the server, which avoids the need to wait for large amounts of data to download with each new HTML page. See Technology for greater detail.

WHAT MAKES GALAXY MORE SECURE?

Only Galaxy employs the Galaxy Secure Business Browser™ without which you cannot access the server. Other systems allow access with most any standard browser alone, which, in spite of the best intentions, hackers still manage to compromise (think Defense Department and credit card systems). For service, some other companies have their clients e-mailing sensitive data through regular e-mail accounts, which may be a HIPPA violation. Galaxy provides built-in Galaxy Mail and Chat, which is fully HIPPA compliant. See Technology for greater detail.

HOW DOES GALAXY HELP MAXIMIZE MY REVENUE?
Objectively, achieving the highest valid MDS RUGs classifications, capturing all billable charges, and assuring consistency among everything is the goal of any good system. Galaxy’s MDS includes (at no additional charge) MaxTrax™, guiding you to select the best ARD, and providing the documentation to justify the highest ADL score. Other tools Galaxy features are the Case Mix Advisor™, and built-in warnings to keep your MDS answers consistent within and between sections. Galaxy’s unique cross-checks assure consistency between diagnoses checked in section I and those listed on the UB-04. Only galaxy offers the Single-Click Draft Care PlanTM that creates the most highly resident-specific care plan completely consistent with the MDS and designed to contribute to great QIS surveys. Galaxy can pop-up a warning on the screen about approaching due dates to make sure that you don’t fall to a default rate because of a late submission, and will even send a Galaxy Mail message automatically to selected management if a particular MDS seems to have a suspiciously low RUGs. Galaxy can edit for valid diagnoses codes to justify charges billed, and can even warn when an HMO requires a prior approval. And only Galaxy cross-checks charges against the services called for in the care plan, to find charges that were not yet entered into the system.
